OWERRI â€” The Imo State legislature has released a comprehensive list of chairmen and members of its 28 Standing Committees.
A breakdown of the Committees as announced in the House Chamber by Chief Goodluck Opiah, shows that the Speaker is heading two Committees, Business and Rule, as well as Committee on Selection.
According to the announcement, Chief Samuel Ayanwu heads Public Accounts Committee, Henry Igbomezie heads Petroleum and Energy, while the Committee on Environment is headed by Miss Ukachi Amaechi, Information, Due Process and Inter-Parliamentary Affairs, Nze Ray Emeana.
Similarly, the Niger Delta Affairs is headed by Mr. Louis Chukwu, Agriculture and Natural Resources, ChiefÂ Basil Duru, Local Government Affairs and Millennium Development Goals, Chief Stan Dara, Humanitarian Services, Mr Amaechi Nwaoha, Commerce and Industries, Prince Ugochukwu Nzekwe.
Vanguard recalls that the former House Committees were dissolved by the Speaker on 4 March 2010, even as he stoutly resisted questions from journalists to explain why he took the action.
