LAGOS — The Institute of Brand Management of Nigeria, IBMN, organisers of the West African Branding Excellence Awards, WABE, said plans had been concluded for the second edition of this year’s award.
The award, which holds tomorrow, has 25 categories and seeks to appreciate and recognise brands across West Africa which have performed well in the market.
Director, Corporate Communication of the institute, Mr. Uche Ojula, said at a press briefing that the aim of the award was to reward companies that had applied brand management practices to analysis, planning, implementation and control of policies designed to achieve corporate objectives in both profit and non-profit organisations in the West African subregion.
He said it had taken long that African brands were supposed to have been rewarded for their performance in the global market, adding: “There is need to recognise African brands that have held their stand in the market, not minding the challenges poised by foreign brands.”
