Working in an office environment doesn’t mean you have to give up all the fun items in your wardrobe. Though florals are seen as fun and playful looks, you can make florals work for the office by keeping the print small. Also steer clear of unnecessary frills in the rest of your outfit. Teaming florals with smart tailoring is like a biker and leather biker boots; it’s a great contrast of masculine and feminine. While it is true some floral motifs may seem more suited for “dancing-on-the-floor†than “sitting-at-the-computerâ€, there are ways to make floral dresses office-chic. For one, abstract floral-printed shifts in muted tones could be paired with a jacket from the same colour palette. Anchor a silk floral blouse with serious, dark coloured pants and belt. A crisp, white shirt could be accentuated with a short floral scarf wrapped around the neck with ends tucked into the top of the shirt. The rule to remember when wearing florals to work is to keep everything else subdued and elegant, preferably in solid, neutral colours.
