ABUJAâ€” In the aftermath of controversy which trailed the award of contract for the construction of second Niger Bridge in Ontisha, Anambra State , the Federal Government yesterday commenced genuine move to award the contract to competent hands to handle the project.
To this end, the newly appointed Minister of Works, Senator Sanusi Daggash and his Minister of State, Mr. Chris Ogiemwonyi,Â have started putting final touches to plans on how they will realize the project.
Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State who disclosed this yesterday in Abuja shortly after a meeting with the Minister, said, three of them, Senator Daggash, Mr.Ogiemwonyi and himself had a very useful discussion on how to get the project started.
Governor Obi further stated that the proposed second Niger Bridge was a very strategic national infrastructure, which was of interest and concern to the entire nation. He said this underlined the resolve of the new Minister of Works, to visit the area on his first official inspection tour.
The Minister, also confirmed that he would be visiting and inspecting the bridge within the week. He confirmed that plans to realize the second Niger Bridge would be discussed and showcased during his visit to the bridge.
