AKURE — GOVERNOR Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State has called on Nigerians to re-dedicate their lives to the service of God and humanity.
Dr Mimiko in his Easter message in Akure underscored the lessons of Easter and enjoined Nigerians not to be carried away by the merriments that usually accompany the festival.
Instead, the Governor stressed that what we should all notes was the passion of Jesus Christ and the significance of His death for the remission of our sins on the Cross of Calvary.
Mimiko in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Kolawole Olabisi, stresses that though Easter commemorate the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, what should be noted is that the festival underscores the Christian faith, hope and the promises of eternal life and not the mundane things of the world which many people have now associated the day with.
“As such, we as a people be you Christians or Muslims must re-dedicate our lives to the service of God, humanity and our dear nation, Nigeria if we must attain the desired height that we envisage for our nation.
“The exemplary life of our Lord Jesus Christ should always be our guide; we must not be carried away by the merriments of Easter, rather, we must learn from Jesus at all times, the tenets of selfless sacrifices for our State and Nation.”
