ABUJA—The Acting President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has urged Nigerians to put in extra effort to effect the desired change the country needs politically, economically and socially.
Speaking at a special Easter service at the Aso Villa chapel, Abuja, the Acting President advised Nigerians to ponder on the supreme sacrifice Jesus Christ made for the atonement of the sins of humanity and use this as a spring board to do more for the country.
According to him, any nation that aspires to be great must be ready to make extra sacrifice. He cited the case of the Asian Tigers as nations where their people gave all their efforts and brought about transformation in their countries.
He also noted that while the journey to greatness is always painful, the change that comes afterwards is more than fulfilling just as the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ brought salvation to mankind.
In his sermon, titled ‘Because He Lives’, Aso Villa Chaplain, Ven.Obioma Onwuzurumba enjoined leaders to be selfless and humble in their leadership roles in order to impart positively upon the lives of the people.
Quoting from the scriptures, Ven Onwuzurumba said “the power that raised Jesus from the dead is able to quicken our mortal bodies…†which according to him is able to change the vilest offender to a spirit-filled personality.
