THE Acting President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, has been called upon to urgently address the imbalance in federal appointments as it affects the Isoko nation in Delta State. This was the assertion of Isoko Development Monitoring Group, IDMG, in a statement signed by its National President, Elder Matthew Ikogho.
He said the federal government had continued to marginalise and neglect the entire Isoko nation, especially in the area of federal appointments for sons and daughters of Isoko extraction, as well as the siting of federal establishments in the area.
According to the statement, “we are appealing to the Acting President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, to correct this anomaly because you hardly can find any Isoko man or woman holding important federal appointments.
“This is not only painful to us but also very sad because other ethnic nationalities, even within the Niger Delta, are being considered. Our leaders in Isokoland are currently doing their best to keep the restive youths at bay because some of our youths are not happy about this.”
