The much-awaited comprehensive book on the Nigerian national football team, the Super Eagles has now been completed and due for public unveiling on May 11 in Lagos .
Titled “Super Eagles through the ages†and written by Nigeria’s foremost football diarist, Kunle Solaja who is also the editor of SoccerStar, the book details all the matches that the Nigerian national team had played since the international debut on October 8, 1949 till the March 3, 2010 friendly match with Congo DR in Abuja.
Every match, every player and scorer is given a mention. It is the most detailed book on the national team as it features all the line_ups in every match that Nigeria ever played in the past 60 years.
Never before this had it been possible to precisely know the number of international appearances any player had made for Nigeria . Also all the coaches, including those that made just cameo appearances for Nigeria , are profiled. The number of games Nigeria played under each of the coaches, right from the first handler of the team, John Finch, a former Fulham striker, to that of Shaibu Amodu, is comprehensively presented.
