Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar is on his way back to the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, as his associates have endorsed the move.
The much-talked about return which has been in the news for some time was sealed yesterday in Abuja by his associates. A statement from Atiku’s media office, Wednesday, said the associates took the decision following a meeting in Abuja.
Among those present at the meeting were Alhaji Lawal Kaita, Senator Ben Obi, Chief Dapo Sarumi, Alhaji Bashir Ibrahim , Otunba Fasawe, Hon. Dubem Onyia, and Mrs. Titi Ajanaku.
Also there were Princess Funke Adedoyin, Chief Ejiofor Onyia, Alhaji Umar Kareto, Boss Mustapha, Senator J. S. Zwingina, Umar Shittien, Prince Tonye Princewill, Alhaji Saleh Shehu, Alhaji Hassan Zurmi and Alhaji Adamu Madibbo and Chief Peter Okocha.
In his remarks after the resolution, Abubakar cautioned members of the group to carry themselves with modesty and humility and to desist from attacks on other groups involved in the failed mega party.
He said ”the differences that led to the failure of the mega party initiative were a normal experience in democracy where individuals and groups are bound to occasionally have differences in their perspectives on issues.â€
