Once beaten, they say, twice shy. In his short career as a coach, Fatai Amoo has seen it all. A former captain of First Bank Football Club of Lagos where he started his coaching career. He left the club in search of Greener Pasteurs and was immediately snapped up by Julius Berger.
After a spell with the Bridge Boys, the lanky former play maker handled 3SC, served in Enyimba and the national teams. He was part of the victorious WAFU Cup home-based Eagles.
His return to troubled 3SC sparked off jubilation among the club’s faithful and even the General Manager, Mutiu Adepoju was excited when he engaged the tactician.
In defending the choice of Amoo as Chief Coach, Adepoju said, “Fatai Amoo is one of the best coaches available and his experience will come very handy for us at this time.â€
He was on the bench when 3SC travelled to Enugu last weekend to keep a date with Rangers International and they lost the tie 1-0.
This weekend, the story will be different as Amoo and his wards will be at home to the ambitious Kwara United who are currently placed third with 48 points, three behind league leaders, Pillars.
Meanwhile, 3SC are on the precipice and a slip against Kwara could further accelerate their downward slide to relegation. But trust the Oluyole Warriors as they want to hang on and continue to enjoy the limelight in the elite class of the Nigerian soccer league.
