Abia govt denies neglecting Ngwa-Ukwa

By Anayo Okoli

Awka—ABIA State Government has said that it has not in any way neglected the Ngwa/Ukwa people in the running of the affairs of the state. The government says it has always carried the people of Ngwa/Ukwa along in the allocation of political offices and amenities in the state.

According to Governor Theodore Orji’s Adviser on Electronic Media, Mr. Ugochukwu Emezue, the only thing that was worrying the government was the issue of kidnapping, which has been hindering developmental projects sited in Ngwa area, as the contractors handling such projects were being kidnapped, hence they abandoned the projects.

He blamed youths from the area, who are involved in kidnapping activities for the delay in the execution of projects sited in the area and urged the people to look inwards and assist the government in the fight against kidnapping.

Emezue, was reacting to allegations of marginalization of Ngwa/Ugwa people and non performance against the Progressive Peoples Alliance, PPA, government by a group known as Concerned Ngwa Citizens, Asia-Europe-U.S.A.

The group had in a statement accused the government of Chief Orji of neglecting Aba, buying up streets and buildings in Umuahia to the detriment of the development of the state and allegedly bribing few Ngwa leaders, so that they would not speak out.
