IBADAN—Action Congress, AC, in Oyo State has begun aggressive campaign so as to compete favourably with its main opponent, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2011 elections.
While speaking to the party faithful at the campaign, former governor and leader of the party, Alhaji Lam Adesina expressed delight at the calibre of people that turned up for the rally.
He said, “It gladdens my heart to note that Nigerians are still desirous of genuine democratic practice and good governance in the face of oppression, intimidation and rights abuse from the hand of opportunists who disguise as politicians only to impose themselves on the people.
He added that he was glad to announce to the world that AC, had been positioned to liberate the state from anti – democratic forces who masquerade as politicians and thus foist themselves on the people only to steal their votes and mandates during elections.
Amid intermittent applause by the mammoth crowd, he continued, “The task ahead can only be accomplished collectively and this is why I admonish all patriotic citizens and lovers of democracy to team up and work relentlessly towards a hitch-free 2011 general elections which must produce a true reflection of peoples’ wish as expressed through the ballot boxes,†Adesina said.
