100 MTN staff for distance learning studies

About 100 MTN staff were last week inducted by Leadmode into the Distance Learning Studies. Leadmode, the sole representative of University of Leicester, is partnering Resource Development International (RDI) in providing good education for Nigerians who want to obtain the United Kingdom degrees.

Speaking during the induction, Country & Regional Director LeadMode Nigeria, Dr. Fakunle Odifa said LeadMode would, with a flexible top_draw UK university education, maximize studen’t true abilities fulfill their potentials and provide excellent qualifications.

Recognising that studying in isolation could be tasking at the best of times, he said flexible study with LeadMode would allow students continue to work while studying, getting the support they need to succeed.

While LeadMode represents number of universities in the United kingdom and organizes in_country tutorials, the academic and administrative staff universities in the United Kingdom assigned will be supporting students throughout their study until graduation.

According to Odifa, Leadmode subscribes to quality Guidelines laid down by the United Kingdom (U.K) Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA).The QAA checks how well UK universities meet their responsibilities, identifying good practice and making recommendations for improvement. QAA also publishes guidelines to help institutions develop effective systems to ensure students have high quality experiences.

Speaking during the induction, the General Manager, Human Resources, MTN Nigeria, Mrs Funke Ameobi, who incidentally, a beneficiary of the scheme said if the 100 staff that were inducted last week were to be counted, the communication giant would have sent about 30 per cent of his work force for good foreign education.

The aim of the scheme is to balance work with force. While the company would be paying the lion’s share of the tuition, beneficiary as a form of commitment would pay a fraction of the cost of the course. She advised that beneficiaries should make sure that they do not spend beyond the duration of the course so as to allow others benefit from the scheme.
