WOMEN in West Africa have called for integration of women in the global effort to arrest the adverse effect of climate change on humanity.Â
Arising from a two- day workshop on the effect of climate change and global warming on women, the West Africa Women Association (WAWA) Nigeria said the health of women and children are adversely affected owing to the high rate of heat waves, food scarcity, malnutrition, cancer among others.
The workshop became necessary as a major vehicle for sensitization, mobilization and collaboration with Governments and Non-Governmental Organisations to check the health and socio-economic impacts of global warming and climate change.
The objectives of the workshop are to create awareness about the risk of dis-empowering women in agriculture as a result of environmental factors such as excessive flood.
