LAGOS â€” Tragedy struck in the early hours of yesterday at Agbara area of Lagos State when a house wife of 18 years in marriage allegedly killed her husband after pouring acid on him.
The suspect who was identified as Mrs. Beatrice Safiu, in his late 30s, is being detained at Agbara Police Station and helping the police in their investigation.
According to the brother of the deceased, Mr Ibrahim, the incident happened at Block 22, Igere, OpicÂ Extension, Agbara.
The deceased, identified as Oluwatoyin Safiu, about 45 years old, was said to be having a running battle with his wife before he was allegedly killed.
According to family source, the couple with five children, two already in the university, had a recent squabble over paternity of one of the children but was settled partially.
It was also learnt that the wife in the heat of previous squabbles packed out of the husbandâ€™s house for six years only to resurface and allegedly carried out her plan.
The suspect, who was said to have been irked byÂ her husbandâ€™s plan to marry a second wife, allegedly carried out the attack when her husband was fast asleep and thereafter clubbed him to death with a mortar.
The police have since visited the scene of the incident and obtained exhibits.
