OWERRI—Standard Organisation of Nigeria, SON, has said the Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme, MANCAP, Certificate is aimed at ensuring that all locally manufactured products conform to relevant Nigeria Industrial Standards, NIS, before they are presented to the consumers.
Imo State Coordinator of SON, Mr. Joseph Ugbaja, said this when he led a high powered team of SON officials to present the MANCAP Certificate to the management of Jacobs Wines Limited in Mgbidi, Imo State.
“The scheme is aimed at protecting consumers from locally manufactured sub-standard and/or unsafe products that do not meet minimum requirements of relevant NIS stipulations,†Ugbaja said.
He commended the Company for meeting the stringent conditions for MANCAP Certificate, as well as meeting the policy directives of SON.
Responding, the company’s Managing Director, Dr. Frank Jacobs, commended SON for establishing MANCAP policy, which he said “encourages manufacturing companies in Nigeria to maintain industrial standards in their production processes.â€
He advised SON management not to relent as their job, which is meant to safeguard the citizenry from the consumption of unwholesome products, and assured that the award would propel the company to greater heights.By Chidi Nkwopara
