Nigeria defender Taye Taiwo believes Technical Adviser Lars Lagerback is the right man for the Super Eagles job but says the Swede must feel the passion of the players in order to succeed.
Lagerback was appointed last month to replace Shaibu Amodu and although he has already started work, is yet to meet with the players, few of whom know him.
“I don’t know much about him, but it doesn’t matter that much, “Taiwo said. “The important thing is that he feels the player’s passion and I think it will be shown that he is the right man for this task.
“The federation has chosen him, and they have good reasons to do it.â€With time in short supply before the World Cup, Taiwo says the new man will face a tough task, but says he is looking forward to exciting times.
“It’s an exciting venture with Lagerback, but it will also be a tough job. We haven’t lot of time to get a good feeling in the team, but I’m sure that we will fix it.â€Nigeria are grouped with Argentina, South Korea and Greece for the World Cup in June.
