By AKOMA CHINWEOKE
Determined to provide the needed platform to accelerate the emergence of a cash less economy ValuCard Nigeria Plc  redeemed prizes for the first series of draws in the on going “ValuCard Hopes & Dreams” promo, a FIFA 2010 World Cup usage campaign by the company courtesy of Visa International.

In his remarks during the prize presentation ceremony, Kyari Bukar, managing director, ValuCard Nigeria Plc, said “This is a great beginning. Doing things like this would encourage the usage of cards in our payment system.

The partnership is not only with the banks and its customers; it extends beyond that to the cardholders and also to the merchants. So, we believe that the value proposition in accepting cards is far more and I suppose that if we collectively decide to change the way Nigerians consider e-payment, this is going to be a great start.” he said.

Also, speaking at the event , Chioma Nkechika, head of Card Services, Zenith Bank Plc responding on behalf of the bank thanked ValuCard for encouraging the growth in the card payment industry.

“We are grateful for this opportunity for partnership and growth towards ensuring that we truly have a cashless society in Nigeria. It’s been a long tale that spanks back over a decade and for us, it is a thing of joy to be part of the success story. We believe that there will be many more opportunities to welcome other banks to achieve that goal”

The prize presentation which took place at the company’s corporate head office had the ValuCard team led by its managing director, Mr. Kyari Bukar, Zenith Bank team,  the deposit bank and issuing bank for the winners—both on the merchants and cardholders’ categories, and  the lucky winners.
