The Tinapa Business and Leisure Resort has the potential to generate N100 billion every year, the Managing Director, Mr Bassey Ndem, said on Wednesday. Ndem told newsmen in Calabar that “it is a matter of time and awareness, Tinapa will soon generate incremental success over time and grow to its true potential.
“Our major problem is the lack of awareness because nobody is advertising the place and many people are not aware of the opportunities there. We are not functioning at 100 per cent capacity but we are certainly not going down either. In the nearest future, you will see an improvement in the quality of services in Tinapa and the number of tenets and businesses that will begin to flow into the resort.â€
Ndem said physical structures at the resort had been completed, a number of shops had started to operate, while the Water Park was ready.
Studio Tinapa, he said, was ready for use and had been leased out to Hi-TV. The managing director said businesses at the resort could generate more than 12,000 employment opportunities, adding that 40 investors were coming to Cross River from Turkey next week to invest in Tinapa. “Actually, 200 investors came to Nigeria but after making presentation to them, 40 said the place is worth a second look.
So they are flying specifically to Tinapa to take a look and continue from there,†Ndem said. He, however, decried the bad state of roads around the resort’s premises, saying that good roads were critical to the overall success of not only Tinapa but also the general wellbeing of the people.
The managing director called on the state government to provide buses that would convey people to and from Tinapa to facilitate business transactions. He said Tinapa was the key component of the Cross River Government’s overall master plan for tourism in the state.
