OWERRI—Amidst allegations of corruption leveled against the National Chairman of People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor, some stakeholders of the party have returned a clean bill of health on him and other members of the National Working Committee.
They described the allegations as a product of envy and frustration by those who have been paid to sabotage and destroy PDP from within.
Arising from a one-day emergency meeting in Owerri, the Imo State capital yesterday, the stakeholders in a communique passed a vote of confidence on Ogbulafor and the NWC.
The communique read to journalists by Dr. Mustafa Aliyu from Adamawa State, urged Ogbulafor to remain focused in reforming and repositioning PDP ahead of the 2011 general elections.
They dismissed the Integrity Group which made the allegations as a faceless organisation populated by those who have been compromised to destabilize PDP.
“There is no iota of truth in the allegations. If there is, let them take it to EFCC and the court and see how quickly it would dissolve into vapour,†the stakeholders contended.
It was their view that the allegations were trumped up to intimidate the national chairman and NWC members into surrendering party tickets to the cabal.
