Benin City – The chairman of Owan West LocalGovernment Council of Edo State, Mr Dan Asekhame, has appealed to the newly sworn-in Chief Judge of the state, Justice Cromwell Idahosa, to investigate and prosecute those behind the illegal sealing of the council secretariat, last Thursday, by mobile policemen.
He alleged that some officials of the Sabongida Ora High Court connived with some mobile policemen to unleash mayhem on the council, resulting in chaos and closure of the council.
he council had been sealed after past political office holders, who took the council to court, stormed the secretariat to enforce the judgment of a High Court which urged the council leadership to pay the salaries and allowances owed them.
However, their action was condemned by Justice Cromwell Idahosa, who wondered who gave them such order when the matter is still before the Appeal Court .
Activities resumed at the council, on Friday, after the Chief Judge ordered that the place be opened. The chairman of the council, urged the inspector general of police and the Chief Judge of the state to investigate and prosecute the mobile policemen who stormed the council, sealed the place after shooting sporadically.
