BENIN—Edo State First Lady, Mrs. Clara Oshiomhole, has sent her condolences to the government and people of Plateau State over the recent incident in Jos in which innocent women and children were murdered by a band of Fulani herdsmen.
In a statement issued by Mr. Ernest Omoarelojie, her press secretary, Mrs. Oshiomhole described as worrisome the recent murderous attacks in which the targets were mainly women and children. She, therefore, called for prayers and concerted effort on the part of everyone in order to stop further bloodletting.
Mrs. Oshiomhole, who wondered why a massacre of that magnitude was allowed to happen, however, advised the people to stop avenging themselves as vengeance was God’s.
She also advised the people on the need to be their brothers’ keepers, instead of allowing religious and ethnic sentiments to dictate their relationships with their fellow men.
Mrs. Oshiomhole stressed the need for women to be vigilant on the whereabout of their husbands and children, as those involved were either husbands or children.
She also used the opportunity to call on security agencies to rise to the occasion in order to forestall further occurences in the future.
