INÂ recognition of his positive contributions to the development and growth of education in Nigeria, Novena University, Ogume, Delta State, is to set up a Conflict Resolution and Rural Development Centre in honour of Governor Adams Oshiomole of Edo State.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Chuks Ochonogor, disclosed this at the first convocation of the institution on Saturday.
According to him, “this university, beyond honouring you with our doctorate degree, also plans to set up an Adams Oshiomhole Centre for Conflict Resolution and Development.â€
The pro-chancellor recalled the efforts of Comrade Oshiomhole in resolving the crisis between ASUU and the federal government, insisting that there was now sanity in the universities.
He urged the governor to make a case for private universities to benefit from the Education Trust Fund, arguing that statistics all over showed that university business, as a venture, was not profit making.
Receiving the award on behalf of Edo State governor, the Commissioner for Education, Dr Ngozi Osareren, said the recognition accorded Comrade Oshiomhole was a testimony of his acceptance as a national patriot.
