THE Nigerian Employers Consultative Association(NECA), and the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) met at the weekend to design ways on how to improve human capacity and skill acquisition of the Telecom professionals.
According to the NECA Director_General, Mr. Olusegun Oshinowo, the meeting was designed to see how NECA and ITF could partner with the telecom operators geared towards ensuring that they have their engineers trained in the nation’s institutes.
One of such institutes according to him is the Digital Bridge Institute established by the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC).
“We cannot put resources in the telecom industry in terms of training since they don’t train the engineers in the local institutions,â€he said.
Viola Askia Usoro who represented the Digital Bridge Institute stressed that the Institute was capable of training some of the Telecom engineers if not all.
The Director General of ITF, Professor Longmas Wapmuk in his remarks noted that many Nigerians have benefitted through such collaboration with expatriates and not by Nigerians.
