NCF invites 118 for Olympiad trial

After almost three hours of deliberation of its Technical Committee, the Nigeria Chess Federation (NCF), has invited 118 chess players for the first stage of the World Chess Olympiad trials which will come up at the National Stadium, Lagos from 21st-27th of this month.

The Committee chaired by Rachael Edward-Dappa, Femi Solaja, Lekan Adeyemi and Eugene Akhiwu short list  64 male players led by Adebayo Adegboyega and 54 female to compete in the 9-round Swiss event trial that will produce 10 players in each category for the final round robin which will come up late next month.

The invited players were drawn from the list of qualifiers from the state trials held recently while the rest are national players who are currently not attached to any state just as last trial event and the Nigeria Breweries National Chess event rating was also put into use by the technical committee.

Other invited players in the male category include Tolu Ogunwobi, Fawole Oyeyemi John, Tunji Rojugbokan, Demola Shorungbe, Olanrewaju Ajibola and Benjamin Omorere.

, Kolade Onabogun, Toyin Jeje, Omapkeje Ochuko, Obubele Koko, Leonard Etuk Akpan, Anthony Job, Fola Akintola, Femi Fasheyitan, Allor Chuks, Rotimi Dashaolu, Bayo Babalola, Sunny Eyenge, Mutiu Salawu Douye Asingbi and Bimbo Ogunowo.

The rest are Olamide Ajibowo, Adegbayi Oluwadara, M. C Cole, Ekpoikong Enagwe, Ubong Arch bong, Austin Apemiye, Nosa Edogiawerie, Ifeanyi Okonkwo, Temma Ikorodudu Madu George, F. Lolomari, Chima Mgbemgna, Ahmed Abubarka, Babatunde Ogunsiku, Ben Awomukwu, Ejika Uchewna, Ihejioka Okezie, Chike Anunoh, Bunmi Olape, Femi Balogun, E. A Samugana, Emmanuel Olaleye, Lolo Adeshina, Ekekuzi Chuks, Folabo Oyebola and Tope Ijisakin.
Umar Abubakar, David Werr, Ezekiel Pam Anthony, Segun Tunde, Salisu Bashir, Sani Faralu, Meshak Othman, Tunde Oladejo, Larebo Okubaubeu, Bomo Kigigha, Pam Abdul_Dio, Robert Magomaya, Ninyawu Sabiya and Inimo Kigigha, all in the male category.
