InsuranceÂ Commissioner, Mr Fola Daniel and chieftainsÂ in the insurance industry are gearing up for the 2010 Miss Insurance night coming up next week just as the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigerian has set the stage for D.J Jimmy Jatt and Ace comedian, Klink D Drunk
Daniel who has prepared himself to leisure at this yearâ€™s Miss Insurance NightÂ said, â€œI am elated by the opportunity to be with CEOâ€™s of insurance organizations in an atmosphere devoid of tension and the routine issues of market developmentâ€.
Mr. Adegboyega Adepegba, CIIN Director-General in a statement to the press said that preparations are in top gear to make the Pageant a memorable one for all.Â Adepegba while explaining the choice ofÂ why K & G Events Centre,venue for the all-night show, said it is a central location and safe at night.Â Adepegba said thatÂ Â the insurance juggernautsÂ are expected at the event, with retired Admiral Francis Akpan as Chairman and Mr. Fola Daniel, Commissioner for Insurance, as Special Guest of Honour.
Besides, Insurance chieftains in the country are already warming up to grace the event that will be spiced by the Commissioner for Insurance assured his presence at the relaxation night devoid of formalities and the routine of regulatory issues.
It would be recalled that Miss Insurance Dance started in the early days of the Institute as one of the social activities which the founding fathers considered to be worthwhile for social engineering and for relaxation amid busy underwriting business schedules. The late Nigerian First Lady, Mrs. Stella Obasanjo (Nee Abebe), was once a Miss Insurance back in the days when she worked with UNIC Insurance Company, as a young spinster.Â Since then, the Dance has evolved into a pageant with increasing attractions.
Miss Brenda Nwakamma, the outgoing Miss Insurance 2009/2010 will next week hand over the crown to the emerged winner of 2010/2011.Â Â Brenda won the yearly pageant organised by the institute March 27, 2009 at the peak of the CIINâ€™s Golden Jubilee Anniversary.
Adepegba, described the star prize as a bold and timely step taken by the Governing Council to uplift the beauty pageant and make it the dream competition for young insurance beauties and brains who, hitherto, did not see the pageant as being challenging.Â The Kia Picanto car for the 2009 pageant was donated by Goldlink Insurance Company Limited, This year, 2010; STACO Assurance has donated a Kia Picanto Car as star prize, making the car prize a yearly one.
