ABUJAâ€”IMMEDIATE past Minister of Commerce and Industry, Achike Udenwa said yesterday that he heard the news of his sack on air while driving between Umuahia and Enugu, just as he disclosed that he was leaving as minister with mixed feelings.
He also described his sack as one of those hazards politicians face where one can be asked to go anytime.
Speaking yesterday while handing over to the ministryâ€™s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Abubakar Mohammed, Udenwa who noted that whatever has a beginning must have an end, said he was removed at a time he was consolidating on the family he built at the ministry.
The former minister who stressed that the ministry has been focused to lead Nigeria to the attainment of its set vision 2020 target as one of the 20 largest economies of the world, adding, â€œI heard of the dissolution of the cabinet on the road to Enugu.â€
According to him, he was handing over to the Permanent Secretary because he was out of town to represent the Acting President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan to formally flag off the made in Nigeria product campaign in Enugu when he heard the announcement on air.
