The Open University of Malaysia and the Accra Institute of Technology (AIT) have commended Omatek Ventures Plc for its significant role in the development of Ghanaâ€™s information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to Omatek Ghana factory in Accra, Ghana, by an eight-member delegation from the Open University of Malaysia (OUM) and Accra Institute of Technology (AIT), President/Vice Chancellor of OUM, Professor Anuwar, stated that the delegation was impressed with the state-of-the-art factory and its high quality products.
He also expressed its delight on Omatekâ€™s capacity to deliver quality and affordable laptops and desktop computers for students of AIT, the Open University of Malaysiaâ€™s partner Institution.
In his remarks, the President Accra Institute of Technology (AIT) Professor Clement Dzidonu, described Omatek Computers as a strategic company that will play an important role in the ICT development of Ghana.
He added that the company will provide the necessary IT tools which are pivotal to undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs under the open/distant learning academic system.
Conducting the visitors round the Omatek factory, the Group Managing Director, Omatek Computers Ghana Limited, Mrs. Florence Seriki, said that AIT and Omatek are in partnership which has led to the establishment of an Omatek Engineering Centre in the institution to enable the students have hands-on experience.
She further stated that the partnership between Omatek and AIT will help to promote e-learning and technological uptake among youths in the country.
She added that Omatek will continue to absorb students for industrial training as part of its efforts to improve the knowledge gap.
