NFF President Sani Lulu Abdullahi on Thursday dedicated the African Star Excellence Award conferred on him by African Leadership magazine to members of the NFF Executive Committee.
The African Leadership magazine, under the auspices of the African Business Roundtable, headed by former Presidential aspirant, Dr. Bamanga Tukur, awarded Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi the â€˜African Star Excellence Award Year 2009â€™ at its International Summit on African Leadership, held at Hyatt Regency, Charles de Gaulle Airport onÂ February 20, 2010.
Editor-in-chief of the magazine, Mr. Ken Giami, said the results on the football pitch has done more to unite Nigerians all over the world than any policy of government.
â€œIt is an honour for us to have the forum to state that Nigeria football has fared so well under your administration. The present NFF has contributed immensely to the positive image of the country. Wherever you travel to, you hear people talk about Nigeria football. At our level, we have come to agree that in football administration in Africa, Nigeria is number one.”
â€œWeâ€™re presenting this award on behalf of the Chairman of the Advisory Council, Dr. Bamanga Tukur, who would have been here if not for an urgent matter of stateâ€. Responding, NFF President Lulu Abdullahi said: â€œUsing football to re â€“brand Nigeria is a project that presents an exciting challenge and we are happy that Nigerians are quite happy with the little we have done.
â€œOn the whole, I want to dedicate this award to the Executive Committee of the NFFâ€.
Executive Committee Member, Chief Obinna Ogba expressed joy at the award given to Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi and hailed the latter for dedicating the award to the Executive Committee.
With Giami at the presentation were the magazineâ€™s Managing Editor, Thomas Usman Waba, Chief Marketing Consultant, Ilesanmi Ayo, Executive Marketer Cynthia Okohe and Head of Marketing Ugonma Ikwechegh.
