Heartland FC coach, Kelechi Emeteole, aka Caterpillar has extended a hand of fellowship to Super Eagles new Technical Adviser, Lars Lagerback, urging him to look inwards in his search for players as the country’s best players play in the local league.
Emeteole, who spoke from Owerri, noted that the slide in Nigeria’s football fortune started when the local league which parades so much talents was abandoned by the authorities for made in Europe materials
“There are good players in our league, it’s just that they have long been neglected. I urge Lagerback to offer his best expertise such that football in Nigeria develops higher and higher at the local level. It is my hope that our new coach will look inwards and help us to develop our game. It is very important for him to do this as part of his job and we are ever ready to help him succeed where he needs our help,†Emeteole said.
However, the man who led Heartland to the CAF Champions League final last year expressed sadness that Shaibu Amodu was removed and would not be part of the World Cup party.
“The man worked hard to earn us the ticket and it’s only right that he be allowed to enjoy the fruit of his labour. This would make it a second time he is getting this treatment, personally, I feel it’s not fair at all that the same ill-treatment is being meted to the man over and over again,â€he added
