NIGERIAN born American Football defensive tackle for the Houston Texans, Amobi Okoye in partnership with Lagos state government, is breaking a new ground with his pet-project, ‘The Amobi Okoye Foundation, Inc’ to popularise the American football in Nigeria.

Briefing the media Sunday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, Okoye said his foundation has acquired land from Lagos state government to build an academy with special interest in propagating American Football.
“Nigerians are talented in whatever endeavour they venture into, they are energetic and American Football League is also a game of strength. So Amobi Okoye’s Foundation aims at bringing his wealth of experience in the game to promote the American Football here in order for the youths to dissipate their energy in the sport while acquiring educationâ€, he said.
He said the vision of the Foundation was for Youth development around a central theme of ‘Sports for Life’. The Academy will deliver educational excellence and scholarship to children.
Besides Lagos state’s government committing its funds and land to see to the development of the game here, The Amobi Okoye Foundatio established the C.A.T.E (Changing Africa through Education) scholarship fund.
