Owing to time factor, Eagles’ Technical Adviser, Lars Lagerback has said he would focus his training on tactics and not technique for the 2010 World Cup finals preparations.
Lagerback, who witnessed the Home_based Eagles train ahead of Sunday’s second leg African Nations Championship against Niger Republic, said what he needed to instill in his team of players to excel at the World Cup were good tactics and not the game’s techniques at this point in time.
In the company of his Swede assistant Roland Andersson, Lagerback said time was not on his side to start preparing the players on technique.
He stated that since after his high profile unveiling, “my assistant and I, Roland have been busy watching tapes involving Nigerian players abroad, and we have discovered about 50 for now that are relatively unknown here in Nigeria.
We are not done with the 50 we’ve seen so far in the foreign leagues; our search for more talents continues. Even if we decide to stop here to focus on the players’ preparation for the World Cup, we could conveniently replace some of those that have been dominating the teamâ€, he said.
