The ECOWAS Commission on Tuesday in Abuja presented 12 sets of computers to Nigeria, to further strengthen its relations with the country. Mr. Jean de Dieu Somda, Vice President of the Commission, while making the presentation, said the gesture was to foster relations and strengthen the integration process. â€œThe presentation is meant to strengthen the cooperation between ECOWAS and Nigeria,â€ he said.
He later told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), that the donation was meant to facilitate direct link with the country. â€œThe equipment is meant to serve as a direct link with the Commission without any interference,â€ he said.
He said all other member states would be provided with the gadgets so as to ensure adequate flow of information. Mr. Felix Pwol, Director, Africa Multilateral Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who received the equipment on behalf of Nigeria, said the computers would be put to optimal use.
Pwol reiterated Nigeriaâ€™s commitment to the unity, stability and integration of the West Africa sub region. â€œNigeria as the ECOWAS Chair, would continue to ensure the peace and integration process in the sub region,â€ he said. NAN reports that four sets of Desk Top computers and eight laptops were presented at the ceremony.
