ABUJA—The face off between Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, leader Chief Anthony Anenih takes centre stage in the Senate today as their forces join battle over the State’s representative on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

Governor Oshiomhole’s nominee to take the position of Edo State on the NDDC board, Mr. Donald Igiede Omorodion is being opposed by two Senators from the State who are normally foot soldiers of Chief Tony Anenih in the National Assembly.

The screening of the nominee is to hold today under the aegis of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta, NDDC, the Committee chairman, Senator James Manager confirmed to Vanguard weekend.

Senator Manager also confirmed the petition filed against the nominee by two Senators.

Senator Odion Ugbesia (PDP, Edo Central), an acolyte of Chief Anenih in an interview told Vanguard that he was opposing the nomination on account of the changes of political expediency on the ground.

Ugbesia alongside Senator Yisa Braimoh (PDP, Edo Central) are signatories to the petition whose contents were not available as at press time yesterday.
