TECHNO Oil Limited, a key player in the downstream sector of the oil and gas industry, has affirmed its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) that will continue to have direct impact on communities.

As part of this as well as to immortalize the pioneer Chairman of the Company, Mr. Ikechukwu Ireneaus Obi, Techno Oil Limited has embarked on the rehabilitation of Agulu Boys High School in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Nkechi Obi Managing Director of the company, who said this at an interactive session with select members of the media, stated that addressing social needs and developing the community in which it operates remains the most important mission that society has entrusted to the company.

She disclosed that the company embarked on the project to keep alive the dream of Mr. Irenaeus Obi, a former Senior Prefect of the school, who passed on eight years ago.

The project is designed to commemorate the eighth anniversary of the death of Mr. Ikechukwu Ireneaus Obi, who passed out of Agulu Boys’ High School, in 1973.

She said that the company decided to embark on the rehabilitation of the school in a bid to revamp the boarding system in the school and engender a system that would promote the pursuit of academic excellence among pupils of the school

“Ikechukwu Ireneaus Obi had a dream for his Alma Mata—Boys’ High School, Agulu but death snatched him before he could achieve his lofty dreams for the school. But Techno Oil Ltd, the company he co-founded and nurtured to success has kept the dream alive.

“The company has awarded contract worth N10 million for complete rehabilitation and furnishing of the dormitories of Agulu Boys’ High School, so as to re- position the school as a center of excellence in academic pursuits for Agulu Community in Anambra State and Nigeria at large.

Inauguration of the rehabilitated facility will take place in a couple of weeks with old boys, government officials and students in attendance.

She said that plans have been concluded to further place this corporate core value at the centre of Techno Oil’s principles and also put it into action with stronger conviction.

According to her, the company will continue to promote causes that have direct bearing on the lives of Nigerian citizens.

“Techno Oil believes that community and country will be better if corporate organizations commit part of their resources to sectors such as education to promote sustainable development.

“We hope that our gesture will make the difference for Boys’ High School, Agulu and that all ex- students, teachers and students of the school will join forces with Techno Oil Ltd to keep the dream of Mr. Ikechukwu Irenaeus Obi alive.
