It was a carnival of sort around Ogba, Lagos, last week when a housewife, Mrs Eleanor Taiwo, was presented with a brand new Kia Rio she won in the Glo BID2WIN promo at her Olufemi Ogunshola Street residence.
An overly elated Mrs Taiwo, her mother and scores of well wishers and neighbours could not contain the excitement at seeing a completely house wife who has been seeking for employment in many companies in the Lagos metropolis suddenly becomes a car owner.
Receiving her prize, Mrs Taiwo said that even though she likes participating in promos, it was actually the interactive nature of the BID2WIN promo that fascinated her the most.
â€œEven when I was called that I had won, I kept playing. It was fun for me. Today, Globacom has ruled my world in a wayby keeping to its promiseâ€, she admitted, adding that the brand new car was a heaven_sent gift for her family.
In a brief remark, before handing over the car, Globacomâ€™s Business Director, Lagos, Mr Opeyemi Dairo, said Globacom always delivered whenever it made promises, adding that the presence of the team in Ogba was not just to present the car and also to identify with the people of the area. On hand to present the car to Mrs Taiwo were Globacom Nollywood ambassadors; namely, Nonso Diobi, Monalisa Chinda and Chioma Chukwuka.

In a related development, the company, also received the commen dation of the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry Mines and Agriculture for its unflinching support and participation in the yearly trade festival. The Enugu State Government also praised the company for its developmental efforts.
Speaking on the occasion of the Globacom Day at the 21st Enugu International Trade Fair at the weekend, the President of the Chamber, Sir Okechukwu Nwadinobi described Globacom as a dependable ally of the Chamber without whose participation, the 2010 Fair would not have been complete.
According to him, â€œwe are happy to see Globacom here today and over the past few years, it has always registered its presence and participation at the Enugu International Trade Fair. We were sure that this yearâ€™s event would not have been complete without the participation of Globacomâ€, he said.
He however commended Globacom for its initiatives in leading the way in the telecommunications industry with a lot of pioneering services and products and urged the company to also replicate these achievements for the black race in new markets across Africa.
Also, the Enugu State Commissioner for Sports and Youth, Mr Matthew Idu, in his remarks at the event lauded the efforts of the company in providing telecommunications services to the people and for creating jobs to complement government efforts at developing the nation.
He promised that the state government would continue to support the companyâ€™s operations in Enugu state while urging the company not to rest on its oars in terms of what it has been able to achieve in the country. Globacomâ€™s Group Chief Operating Officer, Mr Mohamed Jameel, whose address was read by Mr Ralph Ehimen, the Glo Business Director, South East, said that Enugu occupied a strategic place in Globacomâ€™s business equation, explaining why the company was passionate in ensuring that every part of the state is covered by its network, to promote interpersonal and business communication activities.
â€œIn Enugu State just as in other parts of the country, we have continued to roll out services in areas seemingly too remote to be considered by competition. In doing this, we are guided by the fact that Nigeria is our country and as such, we owe it the debt of total coverageâ€.
