AWKA—THE people of Awka, Anambra State at the weekend, cautioned Governor Peter Obi to be wary of some people, who parade themselves as the leaders of the people, but whose real intention is to gain access to the resources of the state.
In a letter addressed to the Governor by Ogbuefi Chris Oyeudo and Mr. Ifeanyi Obiakor, the Awka Development Union, ADU, reminded the Governor that the same people who followed other candidates during the campaigns because they felt they would open the state treasury to them have begun to cluster around him for the fulfilment of their selfish ends.
The group pledged support for the Governor in his second tenure and commended him for transforming Amaku General Hospital to a teaching hospital and the on-going channelization of Iyiagu flood in the state capital.
Insisting that the welfare of Awka people and the development of Awka town were paramount in their agenda, they said they will continue to commend good deeds by Governor Obi and called on the Governor to use his second term to pay extra-attention to the Awka City, especially the upgrading of streets, roads and drainages.
Another group, the Orumba Forum, made up of illustrious sons of Orumba North and South Local Government areas of the state has expressed satisfaction with the work Governor Obi is doing in Anambra and pledged their readiness to continue to support him.
In a letter by the group to the Governor, by its President, Dr. Raymond Obieri and Secretary, Dr. E. Nwankwo, the group expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the February 6, election.
“It is by God’s doing and by the collective will of the vast majority of Anambrarians that you have once again emerged, out of the ocean of contending candidates, as the executive Governor of our state.
“The Forum congratulates you on this victory and wishes you great success in your plans for the progress of Anambra State,” it added.
