UMUAHIA— THE Abia State Government has said that the killing of two butchers by mobile Police at the Ohiya check point in Umuahia over refusal to give them N20 bribe was not calculated to attack the North.
It said the attack was hatched by desperate politicians who intended to achieve objectives which portend nothing but danger.
The Abia State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. John Nwokocha, told Vanguard, yesterday, that the attention of the state government had been drawn to recent subterranean machinations being carefully orchestrated and coordinated by the opposition to needlessly heat up the peaceful polity being enjoyed by all and sundry in the state.
Nwokocha said that Tuesday’s development was a typical display of the degree of depravity and atrocious disposition of these desperate politicians, noting that they infiltrated the ranks of peacefully demonstrating butchers generally to unleash mayhem on innocent passers by and cause stampede in Umuahia.
