BARELY two weeks after an object suspected to a bomb was discovered at the prescient of the Edo State House of Assembly, another bomb scare alarm was raised in Benin Friday.
This time around, the bomb was allegedly planted at the state owned Edo Broadcasting Service [EBS] premises at Ikpoba-Okha Hill, along Benin-Auchi Road in Benin metropolis by unknown persons.
Vanguard gathered that cleaners who were routine duties this morning at the broadcast station discovered the bomb allegedly said to have been planted behind the station transmitters.
Sources at the station who craved anonymity, explained that the cleaners who were apparently not aware of the lethal weapon had mistook the object for a charm at the transmitters and had to call other staff, who on close examination, confirmed it to be a bomb.
Following this discovering, the General Manager, Mr. Tunde Ebozojie was said to have alerted the police who responded immediately at the station to detonate the bomb.
When contacted, Edo Police Command Spokesman, Peter Ogboi, confirmed that the police was aware of the bomb scare at the broadcast station.
He however disclosed that bomb experts from the Anti-bomb Disposal Unit of the Command who were detailed to the scene were yet to brief the command of their findings.
It would be recalled that a similar bomb scare occurred at the premises of the state House of Assembly shortly after the impeachment of the former speaker of the house, Mr. Zakawanu Garuba two weeks ago.
