ASABA—EIGHT persons have been arraigned before a Sapele High Court in connection with alleged abduction of the member representing Sapele constituency in Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Monday Igbuya, in May last year.
The lawmaker was allegedly kidnapped at gunpoint in his father’s house at about 8pm on the fateful night and ferried across the creeks.

At the mention of the case, most of the accused persons pleaded with the court to give them at least a week to enable them seek the services of legal practitioners to defend them, which the court acceded to.
The state attorney general, who is also leading prosecution of suspected kidnappers of Miss Tare Isiaye, an 8-year-old daughter of a chief accountant in the state, kidnapped in February last year while returning from school, had told reporters that the governor directed him and his ministry to take serious interest in all kidnap cases, as the issue had become an embarrassment to the state.
