OWERRI—At least, three persons have been arrested by the police in connection with last Friday night’s armed robbery attack and abduction of the Co-ordinator of Mbaitoli East Development Area of Imo State, Dr. Victor Echeruo.
Vanguard investigations revealed that the hoodlums stormed Dr. Echeruo’s Mbieri country home, forced every member of the family and visitors at gunpoint to lie down, facing the floor before beginning their nefarious operation.
A member of the village, who pleaded anonymity, told Vanguard that the rampaging hoodlums, robbed the occupants of the house of valuable personal effects, including money and telephone handsets.
It was also gathered that the armed hoodlums bundled the traumatized Coordinator into the booth of his official Toyota Corolla car and drove-off into the night.
Narrating his ordeal to his friends and relations on his return, Dr. Echeruo recalled that midway into the late night after taking-off from his home, his abductors stopped at an unknown point and ordered him to run into the forest.
Although the Imo Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Linus Nwaiwu, could not be reached on his mobile line before press time, a reliable police source revealed that Echeruo’s official car was traced to Akwa Ibom State, where the hoodlums abandoned it.
The officer added that this and other resolved cases have given credence to the fact that most of the serious crime perpetrated in Imo State were carried out by cross border criminals.

Any attempt to put the blame where it belongs or rightly put, any attempt to tell Ohakim that he has woefully failed both as the Chief Security Officer of Imo State and as a Governor will be stoutly met with insults and name calling by his paid agents led by Amanze Obi. Does it really change anything?????
The truth remains that Ohakim has missed a golden opportunity in life to be relevant in the lives of Imo indigines whom he profess to govern. Life does not end at stealing public funds and building hotels in South Africa and everywhere. No! Life has a far more appreciative meaning when it positively touches the lives of people placed in your care. The eyes do not lie and a million people can never close their eyes to the truth.
When Chief Sam Mbakwe ( May his wonderful soul rest in peace) was performing wonders in the then Old Imo State, even his arch enemies and political opponents acknowledged that he was performing. No amount of lies and negative propaganda could discredit what the people were seeing because people were witnesses to what was on ground so 10,000 Dr. Amanze Obis can never wash clean a corrupt, fraudulent and dirty person.
Personally, I feel dissappointed that Ohakim could not even address this problem of kidnapping and insecurity of life in Imo State, a once peaceful State. How can he when he is so busy deploying our resources fighting imaginary internet enemies and flogging/physically manhandling those who dare tell him the truth to his face.
4 or 8years is not forever and then begins the greatest judge of all men – HISTORY. Maybe he does not care about such thing as posterity or history but it judges all me harshly or kindly and by extension our children & grandchildren.
My only fear is that the citizens of Imo State are becoming too impatient as a result of the weight of the york of poverty, improvishment, insecurity placed on their neck and assault on their common sensibilities by paid agents of the Governor led by Amanze Obi and might decide to cast the first stone. Who knows, it might not take LONG!
IMO State crime wave requires original IBO system of law enforcement which encourages collective action, to be checked. Politicians introduced violent crimes in this country in 2003 by arming thugs they used to rig elections thereafter abadonded them with the guns.
