Second Republic President, Alhaji Shehu Shagari, has denied that he and former Military Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd), advised Acting President Goodluck Jonathan to review the seven-point agenda of President Umaru Yar’Adua by focusing on four major areas of development.
Shagari said there was no reason why they would advise Jonathan on the seven-point agenda, stressing that the report was incorrect. He added that their visit to the Presidential Villa was at the instance of the Ag. President.
He spoke on the British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC, Hausa Service, monitored in Kaduna, yesterday.
According to him, the matter was not discussed moreso he saw no reason why Jonathan should cut down the items on the seven- point agenda.
“I don’t know when that issue was discussed, why should I ask somebody to cut down what he had promised the people? “There is no reason for that. Well, if someone had asked him to cut down the seven-point agenda, definitely I am not the one.
“He invited us and not that we were there on our own. He called us to thank us because we paid attention to what was happening and spoke. We then said we had some advice for the Ag. President,†he said. He declined to say the type of advice they gave Jonathan.
