Starcomms excites subscribers with star track service, others

Subscribers of Starcomms Telecomm, one of the leading CDMA operator in the country can now have peace of mind about the whereabouts of their loved ones following the introduction of Starcomms Star Track, a location based phone service.

Speaking during the media interaction at Starcomms corporate headquarters, Lagos, the Chief Commercial Officer of the Company, CCO, Mr Tushar Maheshwari said Starcomms was the first Africa’s CDMA, and first telecom operator in the West African sub-region to introduce a location based service.

“Innovation is basic to our relationship with our customers. We have continued to take our subscribers to higher level of experience each time we introduce any new service or product. For these, many other operators have been trailing our track records but we keep moving,” he revealed adding that what made Starcomms unique from other CDMA and GSM operators was its quality internet services, efficiency in service, convenience, cost effective and supremacy of data.

According to Mr Maheshwari, the Star Track service is available in all parts of the country and can be accessed with every phone. “We had in mind those who cannot afford GPRS phones or subscribe for their services. Star Track is based on mutual understanding of subscribers who want to locate one another. It is aimed to keep families, friends, loved ones in touch,” he disclosed stressing that Star Track allowed subscribers on Starcomms network to know the whereabouts of their friends, family, close associate and loved ones via SMS at every point in time.

Speaking further, the CCO revealed that Star Track will help parents, husbands, wives etc. to save their people from danger, particularly, in this high rate of crime waves in the society. “we save our subscribers a lot of time, stress and money in locating the where their loved ones are.”

Allaying the fears of many that this service might interfere with people’s privacy, Mr Maheshwari said the issue of privacy was settled because, the service would only be enjoyed with the consent of the subscribers being located.
However, to register and enjoy this service, subscribers can send SMS by typing: REG, name to 33391.

If the person want to add someone to be located via SMS, he should type: ADD & name of the person he/she wants to locate plus Starcomms number to 33392. And if he/she want to locate a loved one, send FIND, the person’s name or number to 33392. Subscribers can also request for list of those to be tracked by sending LIST to 33392, all at the cost of eight naira per SMS.
