Shehata may not succeed with Eagles , Dada
By Philips Adefioye
Former Lagos State Sports Council chairman, Barrister Yomi Dada has said that Hassan Shehata may not do much with the Super Eagles like he did with the Egyptian national team.
Dada told Saturday Vanguard Sports in an exclusive interview that in the Nigerian system, Shehata would not be given free hand to select the players he finds worthy of the national team, pointing out that the people at the helm of football affairs would be the ones selecting players for him and this could make nonsense of whatever magic wand he wields.
“Hassan Shehata might get the best out of the Egyptian national team but I can assure you he may not get the best out of the Super Eagles. Those who run football here will tell him the players he should invite to the team. It is not going to be like Westerhof who took five solid years to understand our society which made him part and parcel of the system. He was working with the local league, selecting the best from the scene,†Dada said.
Dada, a sports administrator, said that the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF should look for a technically sound coach to take the Eagles to the World Cup adding that Shiabu Amodu has not got what it takes technically to handle the team at the World Cup in South Africa later in June.
