S-East PDP reaffirms support for Jonathan

ENUGU—THE leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South East zone yesterday reaffirmed its total support for the Acting President Goodluck Jonathan, saying he (Jonathan) has so far displayed high level of competence and maturity in steering the ship of the nation in the absence of President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua

The party, however, refused to comment on the reported return of the president to the country after spending 93 days in a specialist hospital in Jedda, Saudi Arabia where he was treated for heart-related ailment.

National Vice Chairman of the party in the zone,  Chief Olisa Metuh, said in a statement yesterday that the party’s decision to support Jonathan was not predicated on an individual but was aimed at protecting the express provisions of the constitution and the resolution of the two chambers of the National Assembly.
