THE 13TH Nigeria Oil and Gas Games enters day five today (Thursday) with golf taking the centre stage. The Ikoyi club 1938 golf course will be the venue for the prestigeous event which will feature top company executives from the industry.
The contestants who have been training for long periods will today put to practise their strategies and skills.
Organisers are predicting a tight game as most of the contestants are said to be regular amateur players who have participated and proven their proficiency in past editions of the games
The Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) team yesterday won four gold and one silver medal to top the medals chart in the swimming event.
Alex Simpson led the gold rush for the Bonny-based company as he led the pack in the mens backstroke and freestyle events which held at the Chevron Recreational Centre, Gbagada.
The other gold medalist from the company was Peter Krygovsky who won the veteran freestyle event.
Shell won two gold medals in backstroke(women) and relay (women) Chevron won two gold in breaststroke men and women, one silver and one bronze in other events.
Equally outstanding were swimmers from ExxonMobil, Total and PTI.In chess, Asibor Erhumusele of NNPC, Lolomari George (Shell) and Okoi Alaku also of Shell were tied on two points each after round one, yesterday. Chris Umokoro of Chevron closely followed with one and a half points.
