Abuja—The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu has urged Governor Peter Obi to be magnanimous in his victory, even as he reasserted the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, concession of victory to the All Progressive Grand Alliance.
Ekweremadu in a congratulatory message to Governor Obi described Governor Obi’s victory as historic, because it was the first time a Governor would be winning re-election in Anambra State.
“Power is a gift from God, it should translate that those who climb the rung of power should count themselves lucky to have been chosen by God for a purpose,†Senator Ekweremadu, who was chairman of the PDP monitoring committee for the election said in a statement on his behalf by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Paul Odenyi.
“When I met with your Excellency last Friday, I made it clear that I am a believer of God given authority and that this power derives from the declaration of the people. I do not count force and fraud as part of the pathway to power. I therefore, see your re-election as yet another opportunity to serve your people, Nigeria and the rest of mankind,†Ekweremadu said.
“As chairman of the PDP monitoring team on the election, I join our worthy candidate, Prof. Charles Soludo in accepting the outcome of the election in the spirit of the belief that yet again, God has chosen you to pilot the affairs of governance in Anambra State,†he said.
