The bullish run on theÂ Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) was halted Wednesday, as the value of listed equities depreciated by N9.92 billion.
In particular, the market capitalisation, which rose by N1 billion the preceding day, dropped by 0.2 per cent to close at N5.545 trillion from N5.555 trillion at which it opened.
Similarly, the All-Share Index shed 41.19 basis points to close at 23,023.10 down from 23,064.29 at which it opened.
Alumaco Plc recorded the most share price loss, dropping by N0.87 to close at N16.63 per share.
BOC Gases Plc followed with a loss of N0.59 kobo to close at N11.26 per share and Skye Bank Plc dipped by N0.39 to close at N7.46 per share
Other share price losers include: Academy Press Plc N0.36, GTBank Plc N0.29, May & Baker Nigeria Plc N0.24, Ecobank Nigeria Plc N0.23, First City Monument Bank Plc N0.20, DN Meyer Plc N0.20, National Salt Company Plc N0.20 among others.
On the other hand,
Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc recorded the most share price gain, rising by to close at N48.06 per share, Diamond Bank Plc followed with a gain of N0.43 kobo to close at N9.05 per share and Cadbury Nigeria Plc garnered N0.33 to close at N15.30 per share.
Other share price gainers include: Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc N0.29, Honeywell Flour Mills Plc N0.28, University Press Plc N0.23, Red Star Express Plc N0.12, Nigerian Bag Manufacturing Company Plc N0.11, Dangote Flour Mills Plc N0.10, BankPHB Plc N0.09 among others.
Equity trading appreciated by 41.43 per cent, as investors traded 450.456 million shares, valued at N3.341 billion in 7,000 deals, compared to 318.5 million shares valued at N2.01 billion traded the previous day,Â in 7,362 deals.
The Banking sector dominated the other sub-sectors, accounting for 50 per cent of the market turnover, with 225.76 million shares valued at N2.55 billion in 3,557 deals.Â Zenith Bank Plc recorded the most patronage in the sub-sector, trading 122.24 million shares valued at N1.92 billion in 251 deals, Sterling Bank Plc followed with the exchange of 13.05 million shares valued at N24.71 million in 116 deals and Afribank Nigeria Plc recorded 11.2 million shares valued at N30.06 million in 133 deals.
The Insurance sub-sector followed on the sectorial analysis, accounting for 13.12 per cent of the market turnover, with 59.09 million shares valued at N57.75 million in 529 deals. African Alliance Insurance Plc recorded the most transaction in the sub-sector, trading 11.1 million shares valued at N6.22 million in four deals, Guaranty Trust Assurance Plc followed with the exchange of 8.66 million shares valued at N19.36 million in 28 deals, while Law Union and Rock Insurance Plc recorded 7.44 million shares valued at N3.81 million in 17 deals.
