Owerri—The police command in Imo has opened a new station at Mbutu-Umuhu in Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area.
Inaugurating the station yesterday, Police Commissioner Aloysius Okorie said that the new station is strategically located along the Aba-Owerri highway.

Okorie commended the community for their contribution which saw to the establishment of the station, noting that crime could only be reduced through the collaboration of a cooperative citizenry and effective law enforcement.
Earlier, the President General of Umuhu community, Mr Julius Okere, had thanked the Commissioner for the station.
He said that robbery and other criminal acts that hitherto thrived along the Aba-Owerri Road would now be history and pledged the support of the community toward the goal.
