Egypt’s star man in the Africa Cup of Nations tournament, Mohamed Nagy ‘Gedo’, has said that he admires Egyptian club Al Ahli.
The Ittihad ace stole the limelight in the 2010 African Cup by hitting five goals in six games, including the decisive winner against Ghana, to help Egypt retain their title in Angola. He came on as a sub in all of the matches, and his goals were decisive.
With some European clubs reportedly interested, Gedo would love to play abroad but hopes to wear the red shirt otherwise.
“Of course I hope to play in Europe, it would be a good move for my career,†the 26-year-old forward was quoted as saying in Filgoal.com.
“But in Egypt I prefer Ahli because I have been a fan since my childhood.â€
When asked about his similarity with Aboutrika, Gedo replied: “I think it is an unfair comparison because Aboutrika is an icon in Egypt and Africa.â€â€œIt is too early for me. I have just started my international career. I hope to come close to Aboutrika’s standard.â€
